2008 Club Championship and AGM

Hi Everyone,

First of all, congratulations to Mark Davies & Ted the Excel on winning the 2008 BORMSA Club Championship with 87 points, narrowly sneaking ahead of Steve Davies in second place. With only one car breakdown denting a great run of 1st and 2nd places for the entire year and the officiating tick for fantastic work on the BORMSA website and as a Drive Day Instructor, Mark is a deserving winner.

The Top 10 for 2008:

Mark Davies 87
Steve Davies 84
Tim Ralli 79
Travis White 51
Mike Rowston 51
Ian Munns 47
Andrew Percival 41
Wayne Sleep 40
Stan Pisulak 40
Brenton Schultz 37

Our inaugural BORMSA Junior Champion for 2008 is Aarin Hahn, who had some strong drives in both a Ford Laser and Nissan Pulsar to win with 30 points and assisted with timing and setup at the last few events.

The trophy and prize presentation will be held at the Freemason’s Hotel in Beverley on Saturday, 6 December 2008 following the BORMSA AGM at 16:30, agenda attached.

Running the club takes time and effort and all Committee positions - Club President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and general Committee roles – will be open for volunteers at the AGM. The Secretary role is definitely vacant; feel free to email me if you would like some more information about what is involved in this, or other roles. Even if you aren’t interested in a formal position, the AGM is a great opportunity to talk to Committee members about other skills and help you may be able to offer – from getting the Autocross track up and running and improving Club facilities to helping out at Events.

In other news, CAMS will be holding a training fest on 17-18 January 2009 at Tuart College – this is a great opportunity to complete the necessary modules for Event Assessor, Stewards, Scrutineering, Club Chief or Silver Official Licence. Please email Teresa (Teresa.Hook@cams.com.au) or Garreth (Garreth.Bryant@cams.com.au) to register or obtain further information. We would encourage everyone to upgrade their licences to increase the pool of officials available to assist at our BORMSA events and to minimise the chances of cancelling future events.

The CAMS WA Motor Sport Presentation Dinner is being held at the Vines Resort on Friday 5 December – why not make it a weekend of motorsports celebrations? The Flyer is attached together with a ticket order form and accommodation brochure. Please contact Teresa at the CAMS office for further details.

Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions and an early Merry Christmas & best wishes for the festive season to everyone.

2008 has been a great year for BORMSA with many new members and nine events held. Hopefully everyone had a great year and is looking forward to a social night out on Saturday 6th to celebrate and congratulate our Champions.

Regards,

Cheryl Simson
