**EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST NEEDED**

With another summer almost upon us it's time to start considering where you will get your Motorsport fix when BORMSA and most other motorsport disciplines take a break. What is your Rally weapon, Autocross beast, Khanacross bunky, or pretty much any other road going or off road going vehicle going to do over summer except slowly rust and fail due to neglect? :-)

The Summer Autocross Series is the answer.

For those unfamiliar with the Summer Autocross Series, in conjunction with the Perth Motorplex, we set up an Autocross track on the speedway circuit on a Wednesday night. Most nights you will have at least 4 x 3 lap runs over the circuit (or 5 if you make the final). With 3 cars on the track at once it is also great spectating while you are waiting for your next run. The Final is a 5 Laps for the fastest 3 cars.

Your times appear almost immediately on a screen in the pit area so not only can you take the p out of your mate, you can also see whether that left foot braking move was actually faster or not. It is your fastest run of the evening that counts towards the Trophies and Championship Points Table.

Typically we have 4 or 5 rounds in the series with Trophies awarded on the evening for each Class of competitors. In addition points are allocated each round and count towards the Summer Autocross Champion for each of the classes.

What cars are eligible? Pretty much anything that is safe and has a seat belt and fire extinguisher. If my poor Mazda MX5 daily driver...and no I am not a hairdresser...is capable of competing then I am sure that anything else is more than capable, although I am not sure about a Lada Niva! For those who have already competed before one change being planned for this year is that at each round of the series one class will be chosen to participate in the Final rather than it just always being the Turbo 4WD Rally cars. i.e. One round will be 4WD's in the final, at the next round it may be 2WD Experienced, the next 2WD Novice etc etc

But wait...there's more...each driver also has free entry for one service crew/spectator.

In order to make it viable for the Motorplex we need at least 25 entries for EACH round of the Summer Autocross Series. As soon as we have enough interested parties we will release the proposed dates. Please feel free to drum up extra numbers by emailing your friends, putting a note on Stalkerbook...oops I mean Facebook and Twitter or heaven forbid you could even try the old fashioned method of TALKING to people about how much of a blast the Summer Autocross Series is.
