CAMS Training Courses

A number of CAMS officials courses are coming up this year:

• Bronze Scrutineer Module – Saturday 16th August, 2014
• Event Assessor Specialist Module - Sunday 24th August, 2014
• CATO Specialist Module – Saturday 14th September, 2014
• Online Training Modules (any time) – Introductory Module, Bronze Circuit Official, Bronze Event Command, Bronze Rally /Off-Road officials.

If you would like to register your interest in any of these courses, or if you have any other enquiries regarding Officials Training, including registering for future courses; please do not hesitate to contact the CAMS WA Office, Karen Whiteman (karen.whiteman@cams.com.au or (08) 9208 8502).

To assist with events at BORMSA, the following CAMS Officials Licences are required:

• Clerk of Course: Bronze Event Command or Club Chief
• Steward: Bronze Steward or Club Chief
• Scrutineer: Bronze Scrutineer
• All other positions – Secretary, Starter, Timekeeper, Flag Marshall – only require enthusiasm! Trainee licences can be filled in and you will get a CAMS General Officials licence for your efforts.

Officials at BORMSA events receive complimentary access to the sausage sizzle and cold drinks all day. As per the BORMSA AGM, for senior roles some compensation is provided to cover expenses: Clerk of Course $75, Secretary $50, Steward $50 and Scrutineer $25. For active competitors (more than 2 events in the year), Club Championship points are given to ensure you’re not penalised for missing out on racing: Clerk of Course 15 points, Steward 15 pts, Secretary 15 pts, all other full time officials (Scrutineer, Starter, Timing) 10 pts (note that if you help out and compete, you only earn points as a competitor).

The CAMS State Officiating Panel is willing to hold a Club Chief session if we can show sufficient interest. Please let me know by emailing president@bormsa.as.au if you would be keen to help out at future events and would be interested in completing this course.
